THE 100 BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR
According to Fortune Magazine.
Fortune Magazine recently released their 100 Best Companies to work
for in 2005. The more information the better, but personally I take
their reviews with a grain of salt because a lot of the companies they
review just so happen to advertise in their magazine. And there's no
telling what kind of kick backs or incentives Fortune is getting behind
the scenes for favorable reviews.
Microsoft received a Best Company Rank of 57, hmmmm.
For example, Microsoft received a Best Company Rank of 57,
and in this month's Fortune Magazine, Microsoft just so happens to have
a full page advertisement near the front of the magazine. Fortune states
that they pick the 100 Best Companies via a survey, and score companies
in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities
and benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie
(philanthropy, celebrations.)
They also state the following: "About 1,000 companies contacted
us or were recruited to participate; of those, 356 completed
the exhaustive survey process. (Any company that is at least
seven years old with over 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible.)"

My guess is 95% of the Companies were recruited by Fortune.
They don't say exactly how many companies they recruited versus
how many companies contacted them to become eligible for the
list. My guess is 95% were recruited. Also, your company has
to have over 1000 U.S. employees to be eligible, that weeds out thousands
of good small businesses in favor of large companies, why? More than
likely there’s more money in it for Fortune to tout the big boys.
That said I figure it is worth to mentioning the list, since it
does tie in so nicely with this site. So here it is from the
